چکیده
Our previous research studies have shown that Veratrilla baillonii Franch (V. baillonii), a food supplement used by ethnic minorities in Southwest China, has multiple pharmacological activities, such as detoxification, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-insulin resistance. However, the detailed signal pathways for its salutary effect on damages multiple organs due to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains unclear. The current study is evaluate the therapeutic effects of V. baillonii T2DM rats explore the underlying mechanisms. The T2DM rat model was successfully established high-sugar high-fat diet (HFD) combination with intraperitoneal injection small dose streptozotocin (STZ, 35 mg/kg). Biochemical analysis histopatholgical examinations were conducted evaluate the anti-diabetic potential water extracts V. baillonii (WVBF). results showed that WVBF treatment can improve hyperglycemia and insulin resistance, ameliorate the liver, kidney pancreas injuries via decreasing inflammatory cytokines such IL-6 TNF-α, oxidative damages. Further investigation suggested that modulates transductions IRS1/PI3K/AKT/GLUT4 AMPK pathways. These findings demonstrate potentials of WVBF of T2DM and possible mechanisms for its hepatoprotective activities.

Effect of Aerobic Exercise Training on Left Ventricular Apoptotic and Antioxidant Indices in High Fat Diet and Streptozotocin-induced Type 2 Diabetic Rat Model
Introduction: Exercise training has been suggested as a potential non-pharmacological strategy to prevent cardiovascular injuries. However, the role of exercise is controversial in preventing the progression of injuries caused by diabetic cardiomyopathy or their repairing. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of aerobic exercise training on left ventricular apoptotic and antioxida...
متن کاملModeling type 2 diabetes in rats using high fat diet and streptozotocin
The pathology of type 2 diabetes is complex, with multiple stages culminating in a functional β-cell mass that is insufficient to meet the body's needs. Although the broad outlines of the disease etiology are known, many critical questions remain to be answered before next-generation therapeutics can be developed. In order to further elucidate the pathobiology of this disease, animal models mim...
متن کاملAnti-diabetic activity of chromium picolinate and biotin in rats with type 2 diabetes induced by high-fat diet and streptozotocin.
The objective of the present study was to evaluate anti-diabetic effects of chromium picolinate (CrPic) and biotin supplementations in type 2 diabetic rats. The type 2 diabetic rat model was induced by high-fat diet (HFD) and low-dose streptozotocin. The rats were divided into five groups as follows: (1) non-diabetic rats fed a regular diet; (2) diabetic rats fed a HFD; (3) diabetic rats fed a ...
متن کاملThe Characterization of High-Fat Diet and Multiple Low-Dose Streptozotocin Induced Type 2 Diabetes Rat Model
AIM Based on the previously established method, we developed a better and stable animal model of type 2 diabetes mellitus by high-fat diet combined with multiple low-dose STZ injections. Meanwhile, this new model was used to evaluate the antidiabetic effect of berberine. METHOD Wistar male rats fed with regular chow for 4 weeks received vehicle (control groups), rats fed with high-fat diet fo...
متن کاملAnti-apoptotic Effects of Interval and Continued Training and Crocin on the Muscle Tissue of the Rats with Type II Diabetes Induced by a High-fat Diet
Introduction: Diabetes is a metabolic disease, which is directly correlated with increased physical disabilities and muscle tissue damage. The present study aimed to investigate the anti-apoptotic effects of interval and continued training and crocin on diabetic rats. Methods: In this study, 49 adult rats aged eight weeks with diabetes inducaed by a high-fat di...
